A Salute to Producer Jerry Finn

Today started as a lazy sunday, I popped on some music and continued lounging around the house. As I was listening to Wiretap Scars by Sparta, (it’s been a few years since I last gave it a listen) I remember really liking the production on it and the album as a whole. So I did a little wiki-searching for who produced/engineered it.. A man named Jerry Finn.

I had never heard his name before, but the list of albums he’s had his hands in blew me away. Records I grew up listening to. Here are a few:

Green Day
Dookie!
Insomniac

The Vandals
Hitler Bad, Vandals Good

Rancid
Life Won’t Wait
…And Out Come the Wolves

The Living End
The Living End

Blink 182
Enema of the State

Sparta
Wiretape Scars

Alkaline Trio
From here to Infirmary
Crimson

I continued reading on, and noticed that he had passed away a little less than a year ago in 2008. As unfortionate as that is, it’s quite possible that without this man doing his job, records that motivated me towards developing a taste in the music industry could possibly have never done so the same way. Or possibly never even created. I tip my hat to you Jerry Finn, thanks for doing what you did, and doing it well.

Sofa is waiting for you
